The wait of two years started in less than two minutes.
Kim Heechul, an icon and inspiration, has taken down the lane to a short journey as a Korean man. He has enlisted in the Nonsan Training Camp, September 1, 2011.
It is an event we have all been dreading for the past two weeks. And as we thought that it will be the biggest event in town, it ended up just like how Heenim wanted it to be – quiet, without the members setting him off, and quick.
Up to the last moment before Heenim’s leave, he still managed to be himself. He did things the way he wanted to and with all smiles, he waved goodbye to everyone who set him off.
This is the Kim Heechul that we all loved, and this is the Kim Heechul we have always adored and admired.
My respect for this person shot up higher than what I thought is the highest already. He had once again exceeded all the expectations I have set of him; and I will forever be proud of the fact that he is one of the very few people who can do that.
I want to believe that this temporary goodbye dawned to us to test us all. Will we give up in the two years of wait or are we going to hold on until the next hello?
I don’t know yet the answer for me. But one thing is sure, I will miss Kim Heechul and even though he is on level four and we might see him often – unlike Kangin – during his service, things will still be different without him around on Super Junior performances.
Just come back safe and healthy as how you promised, Heenim. Whatever befalls, we’ll always be proud of you.
